Beginning Band is a class for students in grades 6-8 to try out and learn how to play band instruments. Students are encouraged to find an instrument that is interesting and exciting for them. Instruments may be rented or purchased through outside vendors, such as Riverton Music, Summerhays Music, Guitar Center, Amazon, etc., or there are a limited number of instruments available to rent through the school. In addition to learning to play, students are taught how to assemble and care for their instruments, create a good tone through proper positioning and embouchure, and how to read and interpret basic music theory and notation.
